Chandradeo Narain College, Sahebganj, was established on 9th May 1969 through the dedicated efforts of Late Chandradeo Narain Singh from the nearby village of Parsauni, with the support of other prominent members of the community such as Late Vaidyji, Mishraji, Shailendra Babu, Lallu Babu, Krishna Chandra Pd. Singh, and others.
The entire land for the main college campus was generously donated by Late Chandradeo Narain Singh, whose contribution remains a cornerstone of the institution’s legacy. The college takes pride in its esteemed former Principal and teacher, Prof. Krishna Chandra Pd. Singh, for his invaluable services in shaping the academic environment.
Affiliated with B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur since August 1980, the college is recognized under sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act (since 1974), affirming its commitment to academic excellence and development.
Recent Progress and Development
The past four years have been significant for C.N. College, Sahebganj in terms of infrastructure enhancement and academic growth. Two new buildings have been constructed, and various renovation and expansion projects have been successfully completed. Further developments are still underway to improve the campus facilities.
Key improvements include:
Establishment of the college website and digitization of the administrative office.
Creation of computer labs and an e-Library to support modern learning methods.
Introduction of e-learning tools and digital resources to enhance student engagement.
Installation of drinking water facilities and a robust power supply supported by high-capacity generators.
Upgrades to sports infrastructure, promoting physical well-being and teamwork.
Academic and Social Impact
The college’s academic and extracurricular initiatives have significantly boosted the confidence of the local community. C.N. College continues to strive toward producing competent graduates equipped with employable skills such as computer literacy, personality development, and positive discrimination practices.
Today, the college operates full-time undergraduate programs in sixteen subjects across Arts and Science streams, spread over a sprawling campus of approximately 10 acres with a built-up area of 16,980 sq. meters. Additionally, a separate Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course is offered under a self-financing model.
Inclusive Education and Support Initiatives
C.N. College is proud to serve students from marginalized communities, including SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women, and those from below poverty line (BPL) categories. Despite limited resources, the college prioritizes these sections through:
UGC-sponsored remedial classes.
Entry into services coaching.
Career counseling programs.
Scholarships and stipend schemes supported by the state government, UGC, and the Government of India.
Technology and Social Responsibility
With generous support from the UGC, the college has established an advanced Network Resource Centre equipped with modern electronic tools such as PCs, laptops, printers, photocopy machines, projectors, internet access, sound systems, and digital cameras. These facilities are accessible to both faculty and students alike. The installation of E-Granthalay and N-List software is currently in progress to further enhance academic resources.
The college also boasts a vibrant NSS unit that actively engages in community service programs like awareness campaigns, plantation drives, and other social welfare initiatives.
